Story of THE saddle:  After winning "Favorite of the Show" at the Boot & Saddle Roundup at Brownwood, Tx. in Sep. 2000, we were commissioned to build a saddle for George W. Bush after the Presidential election. The saddle was purchased by the Texas Federation of Young Republicans as a gift for the new president. They knew exactly what they wanted; a classic Texas double D rigged saddle with a big front, tall cantle and an inlaid padded seat. They wanted the presidential seal on the horn cap and fenders, his initials on the stirrup conchos and fully flower carved with a sterling silver cross on the back of the cantle. The seat plate has a longhorn on it since he raises longhorns on his ranch at Crawford. The seat plate also has a G43 on it. The reason for this is that he is the 43rd President and his dad was the 41st. They often refer to each other as G41 and G43. All the silver was antiqued to give  a bit of an "aged" look. It also matches a buckle set we made for Mr. Bush while he was still governor of Texas. The saddle is currently on tour and will be given to the President when he comes back to Texas on a future visit.
